8th FFCCWO President-Secretaries Meeting: A Success
March 11 – 13, 2011 City of Tagum, Philippines

In Tagum City, a total of 86 delegates headed by our national president Ms. Raquel Lu, from 21 chapters including this city attended the 8th President-Secretaries Meeting of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Catholic Women’s Organization last March 11 – 13, 2011 with the presence of Bishop Leopoldo C. Jaucian, SVD, DD, our National Coordinator and Spiritual Adviser and Monsignor Esteban "Bong" Lo, LRMS.

Delegates arrived in the morning of March 11 at the Davao International Airport, taking early flights from their respective point of origin. And they were brought to the City of Palm for lunch at Miko’s Brew Café. After the feast, they were brought for accommodation and billeting at Golden Palace Hotel. After checking in, they were ferried for a city tour and enjoyed the sights of Tagum despite the rains. A holy mass was offered by the group at the Parish of Christ the Eucharistic King with Monsignor Ulysses Perandos as the celebrant, immediately after the tour and ended with a welcome dinner at Mayor Rey T. Uy’s residence and were serenaded with classical music from string ensemble of the world’s recognized Tagum City Youth Rondalla Ensemble.

Day two (2) of the national activities were held at the pavilion of St. Mary’s College. Messages of the guests and officials were delivered. A workshop was facilitated by Ms. Erlinda E. Loria. Topic was focused on “How do we believe, live and share the Word of God?” but what counts also is the enjoyable ice breaker game called “age guessing”, in which the first five delegates who won received a token from the host.

Two (2) activities came next wherein the delegates are broken into groups of 8 and 10 persons each group. Questions were asked and answered based on the talk of the speakers. Then it was followed with the forming of huge groups accordingly from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The groups had the task of role playing their answers. It was fun-filled undertaking for the delegates. Monsignor Bong Lo gave the synthesis of the different role plays that the delegates performed, and announced the winners and prizes were given.

The delegates from Dumaguete City Chapter were given the privilege to invite the delegates for the 2012 National Convention which they will be hosting. A message was given by Fr. Raul “Bayong” Cuenco Delos Santos before the end of the workshop.

A mass was offered and officiated by Bishop Leopoldo Jaucian. And after dinner, the delegates were brought to the Tagum City Trade and Culture Center Pavillion to watch the international dance performances of Halili-Cruz Ballet, Douglas Nierras’ Powerdance and the Philippine Normal University through SAYAW PINOY 2011 Dance Concert presented by the National Commission for Culture and Arts, City Government of Tagum and the City of Tagum Tourism Council.

On the last day, all the delegates went to the New Christ the King Cathedral for a morning mass, and lunch was served at the cathedral. After lunch, they were brought back to the Davao International Airport for their flight back home. The host city is very much appreciative to the delegates for their active involvement in the activities of the 3-day national meeting. Truly it was a memory to remember all the time.

Our warmest and sincere thanks to all the delegates......
